One of the world's most recognizable board games is getting a new edition!
Monopoly Knockout, an up-and-active version of Monopoly, is available exclusively at Walmart stores and Walmart.com now, and will be available at most major retailers starting Jan. 1, 2024, Hasbro announced exclusively to USA TODAY.
In the game, players compete against opponents in a token showdown, according to the company. Players play in rounds and take turns sliding their tokens down the 3-foot gameboard and try to land them on properties.
The object of the game is to land your tokens on the best properties and knock other players' tokens into jail or off the board.
At the end of each round, players collect or pay cash based on where their tokens end up. The player with the most cash at the end of the game wins.
According to Hasbro, the game is for people ages 8 and up and anywhere from two to eight people can play at a time. The game will retail for about $19.99.

Rich history of Monopoly
According to the Library of Congress, Monopoly was patented in 1935 and has since been translated into 37 languages and evolved over 200 licensed and localized editions for 103 countries across the world.
The game was created by Charles B. Darrow of Germantown, Pennsylvania during the Great Depression.
As of 2010, over 250 million sets of the game have been sold, and since its invention, over half a billion people have played Monopoly, according to the Library of Congress.
